The Final of The ElevEase Lovely Legs Competition

August 28th, 2009

The final of The ElevEase Lovely Legs Competition was a fantastic night as throngs of people gathered to see who would be crowned the ElevEase Lovely Legs Competition winner.

The seven lovely finalists from the left were Claire McKevitt, Dani Masterson, Kate Dwane, Zoe Egan, Linda Fitzsimmons and Ali Donnelly. Maeve Hanan followed later as she was busy starring in a musical! We kicked off events with each finalist doing a party piece which we all excellent.

Ali was very inventive and kept with the theme of the competition with Father Ted’s, “Lovely Horse” song which really got the crowd going and was great fun altogether. Maeve sang, “Take another Little Piece of my Heart” and Kate sang, “Fever” which I’m sure gave some of our male viewers a few hot flushes!

Linda did a magic trick where she got 4 male members from the audience to sit on a stool and somehow managed to balance them on each other while simultaneously removing the stools with the end result being the four lads resembling a table. What a great way for pubs to save money - no need to buy any tables just get 4 men to balance on each other and save a fortune!

Dani did the Hull Hoop and Claire did the Limbo which is always great fun. Finally, Zoe recited a poem that she wrote called, “Ode to the Martello” which certainly got a few laughs from the crowd.

The judges then had the impossible task of narrowing the seven lovely finalists to three which I can assure you, was probably the hardest decision we ever ever had to make. Drum roll – the three that made it to the final were Linda, Kate and Maeve.

Their next challenge was to walk up the red carpet and strike a pose on the lovely ElevEase Shower Step. As the winner is going to be doing a lot of modeling work for ElevEase – it was important to test the contestants’ posing abilities. This was great fun and got the crowds even more riled up!

So the moment we were all waiting for arrived after the second challenge and we were all dying to know who the winner of The ElevEase Lovely Legs Competition was going to be. Drumroll… and the winner is…Linda Fitzsimmons.

Linda bagged the €500 cash prize and is going to be the face and legs of the ElevEase brand for the next year. So we came to the end of the competition which is sad but it was a raging success and we have now found the face and legs of our brand which is great…and que… closure…ah lovely!

Just a final note to say a big thank you to all the contestants who took part in the competition and Father J.T the one and only MC that keep the show going for four weeks. Finally, a big thank you to the Martello for being a great partner to work with throughout the event and of course for supplying us with a fantastic venue to host the ElevEase Lovely Legs Competition 2009 in association with The Martello.

Heat 3 of The ElevEase Lovely Legs Competition

August 20th, 2009

The third heat of The ElevEase Lovely Legs Competition was a great success as we decided to take things up a notch by hosting the event outside the Martello. We had a massive audience and of course, we couldn’t drag the lads away so this week we had a mixture of lovely girls and lovely lads. As you can see below one of the lads was giving the hula hoop some welly.

On the subject of willies we brought back the, “What’s in the Welly” round this week which was as entertaining as always. As you can see one of our lovely contestants has a look of disgust and fear on her face as she places her lovely leg into a well full of custard.

The fun didn’t stop there as we introduced the “Walking though Cones with a Cup of Water Balanced in between the Knees” round which is not a simple task – needless to say we had many a spillage but there’s no use crying over spilt water!

As a wildcard round we brought out the good ole limbo stick to test the girl’s stamina and flexibility and as a result two more girls went through to the final. The other two girls qualified based on the points they got throughout the tasks.

After all the fun and games, we had our final batch of lovely finalists ready and primed for the final. Now, it’s time for the serious games to begin as 8 lovely ladies will be battling it out to win €500 on Friday night, the 21st August at 12am in The Martello. Come on down for the craic as this week, there will be fun, games and glamour as we are rolling out the red carpet.

Heat 2 of The ElevEase Lovely Legs Competition

August 13th, 2009

The second heat of The ElevEase Lovely Legs Competition was great fun last Friday in the Koo, Martello. To help things run smoother, we decided to limit the contestant to 6 per week and a lovely six contestants we had.

We started off the fun and games with the “How Many Pairs of Mrs Doyle’s Tights Can You Put On” in 30 seconds, which sounds easy but believe me is no mean feat when you have a lot of people watching, 3 judges and the countdown music in the background. I think you should stick to the fake tan girls, use an ElevEase Shower Step-it’s quicker, pain free and the end result looks a hell of a lot better!

We then moved on to the intellectual part of the competition with “Guess the Collective Price of the Beauty Products” round which as you can see below our lovely contestants studied hard.

The usual suspects judged the second heat this week with Mary Fogarty from the Bray People, Scott O’ Neil from the Peaking Trippers and myself, Aoife O’ Driscoll from ElevEase. It really is a tough job or “emotional” as Father John and Scott might say.

Overall it was a great night. Three of our lovely contestants; Danni, Meave and Sarah went through to the final which is taking place on Friday, the 21st of August. As you can see below, Father John is passing on some good tips about to preen those lovely legs for the final-an ElevEase Shower Step is the only way to go! Only one heat left this Friday, 14th August and then on to the grand finale which is set to be a red carpet event.

The Launch of The ElevEase Lovely Legs Competition

August 5th, 2009

The Launch of The ElevEase Lovely Legs Competition last Friday was a raging success with many a leg being thrown in my direction accompanied by comments such as “Aren’t they lovely legs”. Yes, yes they were, they were all lovely legs!

All entrants got free cosmopolitan cocktails for being such good sports and at 12pm, we kicked off the competition with “Father John”, the MC for the night introducing the contestants.

We had lovely female and masculine legs enter the competition as three brave men got their legs out and participated in all the events which included – applying fake tan and nail varnish using an ElevEase Shower Step.

There were three rounds in total with 3 different tasks in each round. One included guessing the price of beauty products such as an ElevEase Shower Step, false tan, exfoliating gloves, a razor and a tanning mitt. Also as you can see below, one of the most popular rounds was, “Guess What’s in the Welly?” which could only be identified through placing those lovely legs in the welly and identifying the item with your feet.

The judges, Aoife Gallaghan from The Martello, Mary Fogarty from the Bray People, Scott O’ Neill from the Peaking Trippers, and myself, Aoife O’ Driscoll from ElevEase had the tough job or rating each contestant with our lovely scoring cards!

The two lucky winners who made it through to the final on the 21st August were Linda and Zoe so congratulations girls and we will see you in a few weeks at the grand finale where one pair of lovely legs goes home with a €500 cash prize – think of all the ElevEase Shower Steps you could buy!

We are running heats on Friday 7th and 14th of August so if you think you have what it takes to win the €500 cash prize, contact us on 01 2828935 or info@elevease.com. You can also turn up on the night and we will register you there and then.

Summer Fun with The ElevEase Lovely Legs Competition

July 24th, 2009

We have decided to run a competition called The ElevEase Lovely Legs Competition to showcase ElevEase in all is glory over 4 weeks in beautiful Bray. With all the doom and gloom lurking around us with the dreaded recession, we have teamed up with the Martello to put a smile back on everyone’s face with a competition that is set to be one of the most entertaining, liveliest and quirkiest events to be launched this year.

The ElevEase Lovely Legs Competition is not your run of mill beauty pageant. This competition will involve a lot of leg work with tasks such as,“Who can put fake tan on the quickest using an ElevEase Shower Step”, along with some challenging, unusual games and much much more. This competition was inspired by the “Rock-a-Hula-Ted” episode of Father Ted that featured The Lovely Girls Competition and is promised to be as hilarious as the original event.

The ElevEase Lovely Legs Competition is being launched on Friday 31st July in the Koo, Martello on Bray seafront from 10pm to 11pm. The fun and games will run for four weeks as every Friday, The Martello will host eliminating heats to bring us to the Grand Final on Friday 21st August. The lucky winner will be the proud owner of the whopping €500 cash prize.

Even if you don’t live in Bray, hop on the Dart and give us a visit. Bray really is a beautiful as we keep making it out to be, especially after a few cocktails and a lively competition!

We are accepting entrants every Friday night until the final. If you think that you have what it takes to win The ElevEase Lovely Legs Competition, call us on 01 2828935 or e-mail info@elevease for some more information. You can also see information on the ElevEase and Martello Facebook pages.

How much of an impact do Price Points make on Sales?

July 20th, 2009

It is becoming apparent that one of the most important P’s of the 5 P’s in marketing is the price point – especially in these recessionary times. One of the main marketing messages that are being disseminated at the minute is about price cuts.

Take the price war that is going on between supermarkets for example, I have received many a flier about these price cuts and have received the message load and clear. I have decided to join the price slashing brigade and have taken the price cutting science on board through running a Summer Special Offer on ElevEase-The Shower Step.

ElevEase Summer Special Offer

ElevEase Summer Special Offer

The critical factor in this test is that it results in an increase in sales. It’s the transition of maintaining adequate margin to moving to the big bad world of lower margin and higher volume. It’s like looking into a crystal ball – no one can tell if it will work or not. I suppose it one of those risks that we entrepreneurs have to take to find out.

At the end of the day will a reduction in price mean an increase in volume sales? Another factor that needs to be taken into consideration is that a budget needs to be allocated to informing people about this price change. Supermarkets are clearly splashing out on home fliers, radio and TV advertisments.  We are starting an online campaign through Google Adwords and Facebook so we will soon find out. I will keep you posted!

The ingredients needed to run a price point test are:

·         A special offer slogan : “Summer Special Offer”

·         Graphic design for the special offer

·         Advertising the special offer :  Google Adwords and Facebook

The information extracted from the test…priceless? Hmm – we will have to see!

Getting Ready to Break into the UK Market

July 2nd, 2009

We are currently breaking into the UK market through DRTV (Direct Response Television). This basically means that we are buying airtime on the following channels: Hallmark, BIO and Wild for a week to test how effective this sales avenue is.

Initially we were looking at doing a 10 minute commercial but common sense and good advice prevailed and we decided to work with the one minute commercial that we got made in America for the test market. We had to tailor the USA commercial to the UK market so we have stretched it out to 90 seconds to slow the pace down a bit and added a UK voiceover.

The lovely Tara Flynn kindly agreed to do the voiceover for the commercial and came all the way from London to do it. Here she is in her voiceover both:

Here is Damian, the editor and Kiev, the sound engineer working on the technical side of the Voiceover in studio in The Bright Room Studio.

The ingredients needed to add a new Voiceover to an existing commercial are:

·         A script that is synchronised to the video of the commercial

·         A professional voice over artist - Tara Flynn

·         A studio to record the voiceover - The Bright Room

·         A sound engineer - Kiev Connolly

·         An editor - Damian Purcell (www.recordit.ie)

The new commercial is currently being cooked in the editing machine. As soon as its finished – I write a new blog about it for you all to see.
